Where: The Secret Beach, Bali
When: November 2019
We wanted to find a beach that was close to us in Ubud but soon discovered that most of the nice white sandy beaches are in the South and quite a distance away. We’d previously headed to our nearest beach (from Ubud) which is only about 30 mins away on the East coast but this was black sand and not that impressive really.
We looked a little further afield (around an hour) and found Blue Lagoon and also The Secret Beach (Its actual name is Bias Tugel) on the East coast which looked like our kind of thing. Small, uncommercialised, and not that easy to get to (I doubt cars could get to it easily and there’s a short trek and descent on rough ground to negotiate to get down to it) which meant it wasn’t busy. We spent most of a day there and everything was a reasonable cost (scooter parking, sunbeds hire, and food at the beach front warangs). If you fancy a relaxed beach day, I’d really recommend it.
