Where: Mt Batur, Bali
When: December 2019
Mount Batur is a volcano in the North West of Bali. It takes just over an hour to get there from Ubud so we made a bit of a day trip out of it. Unfortunately, we picked the worst day of weather to visit it in the 2 months we were in Bali! This meant that the views weren’t that clear, and just as we arrived at the lake by it, it began to rain and did so for a couple of hours.
There are also lots of organised sunrise trips to hike to the top of the mountain for sunrise. These do involve a very early start though! You also can’t climb to the top without an (un)official guide and I read lots of articles about people trying to do so and getting hassled/threatened etc so it’s probably best not to try imo.
